Thanks to my upbringing in a military family, my childhood was defined by travel. We lived across the U.S. and in Germany, and I had the unique chance to grow up and experience many different cultures and lifestyles. My favorite home base was Butzbach, a small, quaint German town. All that moving around turned into a passion for me, and now I can’t imagine a better profession than travel consultant. Not only do I get to learn constantly about the world through seminars and trips, but I can share insider information with clients in order to sweeten their vacation experience. From time to time leading up to their departure, I send my clients additional information about the places they will be visiting, to keep them excited and in-the-know.
I particularly love planning destination weddings and honeymoons. I also enjoy a good challenge, which explains why I get a kick out of coordinating the itineraries of the wedding guests, their air travel, accommodations and special touches for that big day in a couple’s life. As a Master Cruise Counselor, I can easily arrange for the bride and groom to get married while traveling on the water, with the ceremony either at a port or onboard a small ship, river boat or large resort-style vessel. For my own wedding, we cruised along Alaska’s Inside Passage, disembarked in Juneau and said “I do” at Mendenhal Glacier. On another favorite cruise, my Mom, Husband and two very good Friends and I took the Sea Princess to the Caribbean and swam with the dolphins in Antigua, a lifelong dream especially for my Mother!
When it’s time to sell land vacations, my expertise is wide-ranging thanks to my many certifications and travels, from Hawaii, Caribbean and Mexico to Europe and Australia. One of my most memorable adventures on land was a two-week stint Down Under, complete with snorkeling around the Great Barrier Reef. While there, I experienced the awe-inspiring Sounds of Silence dinner in the middle of the desert as the sun set over Ayers Rock. As luck would have it, in Cairns we were able to witness the passing of the Olympic torch, and the runners stopped for photo ops. I was even honored and got to hold that icon for a moment. It felt like a dream come true! That’s the sort of special memory I hope to create for my clients, to whom I give my 110 percent. I work on Saturday's to make sure I’m accessible. Simply put, if you can dream it, I can plan it!
